East Bay · In Person

Mixing & mastering classes in the East Bay.

Your songs deserve better than a bedroom mix. Learn EQ, compression, and mastering in a professional Emeryville studio, with a working engineer critiquing your mixes every week.

What you'll actually learn

Mixing fundamentals

Gain staging, EQ, compression, saturation, and space (reverb, delay, stereo width), applied to your own songs, not canned exercises.

Mastering that translates

Loudness, limiting, and referencing so your track holds up on club systems, car speakers, and earbuds, and is ready for streaming.

Studio ears

Weekly listening sessions in a treated room train you to hear what your mix is doing, a skill no plugin preset can replace.

Common questions

Where are your mixing and mastering classes held?

In person at The Grill Studios in Emeryville, CA, in professional treated rooms with pro monitoring, right on the Oakland border. Students commute from across the East Bay: Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, San Leandro, Hayward, and beyond.

What level do I need to be to take a mixing class?

The core Mixing & Mastering course is built for producers and artists who already make music and want it to sound professional. If you are brand new to production, start with the Beginner Production Intensive or an Ableton/Logic course first.

How is this different from an accredited audio engineering school?

Since we are not accredited, we can focus on teaching what you want to learn, less what the state wants us to teach you. You skip the multi-year program and the trade school price tag, and spend your time on the practical heart of audio engineering: EQ, compression, gain staging, spatial effects, and mastering loudness, applied to real songs in a real studio from week one.

In person or online?

In person, in a small cohort, with a working engineer listening to your mixes and telling you exactly what to fix. Sessions are recorded so you can review anytime.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Pay in full or split into monthly payments.
