Why a program instead of one class?

Beat to release

Most classes stop at the basics. The program bridges learning a DAW and making a record that sounds finished, so you leave with real tracks, not just knowledge of the buttons.

A studio you can use

Program students book their own private time in our 3 commercial studios at The Grill Studios. Practice, record, and mix on professional gear between classes.

People who finish tracks

Small groups mean deadlines, listening sessions, and classmates who hold you accountable. Most people quit alone; far fewer quit together.

How the program works

  1. Learn your DAW

Start from zero in the production course, in the DAW you pick: Ableton Live or Logic Pro. You go from a blank session to finished tracks.

  2. Sharpen the sound

Move on to a second course that finishes the job: Mixing & Mastering to make your tracks sound release-ready, or Live DJing.

  3. Go deeper 1-on-1

10 private lessons with any of our instructors, so you can chase whatever is holding your music back.

  4. Work in a real studio

Studio Lab access lets you book your own time in our 3 commercial studios at The Grill Studios and put class skills to work.

Common questions

What is the Producer Program?

A 6 months program that bundles two of our small group courses with 10 private lessons and Studio Lab access. You learn your DAW (Ableton Live or Logic Pro), then move on to Mixing & Mastering or Live DJing.

Do I need experience?

No. The program is beginner friendly and starts from scratch. It also works well for self-taught producers who want structure and feedback on real tracks.

Where is the program located?

In person at The Grill Studios in Emeryville, CA, right on the Oakland border. Students come from across the East Bay: Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, San Leandro, Hayward, Richmond, and Walnut Creek.

How is the program different from taking a single course?

A single course covers one skill in about 10 weeks. The program stacks two courses back to back, adds private lessons, and includes Studio Lab access so you can work in a professional studio between classes. Programs also typically cost less than buying the same courses one at a time.

How much does the Producer Program cost?

Program pricing starts with a quick call with our director, who helps you set everything up. Payment plans are available, and so is Klarna financing.

Do I need my own laptop and software?

Yes, bring your own laptop with your DAW installed, plus headphones. Not sure what to buy? We will help you pick the right setup before you start.
